You’re engaged!

You're engaged! Wondering what to do next?

Enjoy the moment!

Let it sink in. Take it in. Smile. Enjoy it.  Head to your favorite bar for a glass of Champagne.  You'll get caught up in wedding planning soon, so enjoy the time before you let everyone else in on your good news. You're engaged, and that's totally worth toasting. Just be happy together.

Tell your family & close friends

You can't wait to let people in on your engagement or you may want to hold off and enjoy being engaged for a moment but when you decide you are ready we suggest that you tell your parents first (preferably in person, no text messages!) then other family and close friends.  You definitely want to share the exciting news with your family and close friends first before you post on Instagram or FB.  The last place they should have to hear about your new exciting news is on social media. They probably already know and have been waiting for you to share!

Set the date & choose your basics

Its ok not to have a specific wedding date in mind. We suggest to choose a date range - it may give you a bit more flexibility with your wedding date. The most wanted dates and venues are booked far in advance so if you're hoping to have a wedding in the next year or so, it could be a wise idea to start thinking about dates now.

You will need to figure out what you can afford and if your families are contributing. Ensure you and your soon to be husband/wife are in agreement. Start a guest list, set a budget and discuss where you'd like to have your wedding and how you envision it.  Going big or keeping it small?  Once you've agreed on a rough guest count, you can determine your venue. Envision the type of wedding you both want.

Hire a Planner!

This is the best time to hire a planner. A wedding planner can help with the logistics of planning your wedding, and help source and refer you to right vendors. Vendor referrals are totally worth it! The beginning stages of planning a wedding can be overwhelming. Figure out what are the important things you are looking for in a planner, and set up interviews. The engagement period really should be a time to celebrate this next step in your relationship, not a time to be stressed. Let us help you set a budget, stick to it and have the wedding of your dreams. Congratulations!
